TextLink – TextLink service provides emails, text messages and daily news updates

Paradigm’s TextLink service provides text-based welfare communications or limited operational satcoms capability where deployment scenarios preclude the use of Internet and voice-based services. TextLink is a lightweight operational welfare package that utilises Iridium for truly global coverage.

The TextLink service provides global E-mail, Short Messaging Services, Postal Services and daily Newsletters.

The system is easy to use and operate through a straightforward PC software interface and an Iridium satellite phone, and requires very little training and maintenance. Therefore, it can be used in scenarios ranging from early entry forces to reconnaissance missions.

Compared to other mobile satcom solutions, TextLink delivers economic tariffs through a combination of compression, intelligent dialling, Store and Forward techniques, full two-way operation and interactive account management.

Family and friends

If you receive an SMS on your mobile and it starts with username@rmparadigm.com, it means you have received a message from someone you know in theatre using Paradigm’s TextLink service.

If you want to reply to the message, all you need to do is select reply from the mobile phone you received the message on. You cannot send a text message from a phone that has not received a message from the TextLink service. You can send as many replies as you wish from a phone that has received an SMS via the TextLink service.

All it will cost is the price of a UK standard SMS message at whichever rate you have with your provider.
